Le dernier épisode du web-documentaire diffusé sur le site d’Arte date du 23 décembre. Les évènements des derniers jours empêchent évidemment la poursuite du tournage, et ajoutent encore un peu de désespoir au tragique de ces témoignages.

Le site du jour : Gaza/Sderot, la vie malgré tout http://gaza-sderot.arte.tv/ Disponible en cinq langues (français, anglais, allemand, arabe et hébreu), le programme a été réalisé pour l’unité « Actualité, géopolitique et société » d’Arte.

La réalité qui importe est peut-être plus là : http://gaza-sderot.arte.tv/fr/ que dans les bombes meurtrières d'Israël qui tuent des civils et dans les roquettes meurtrières du Hamas qui tuent des civils, que dans les affrontements et les polémiques que génèrent l'énumération des responsabilités respectives depuis 60 ans, etc. Définir qui a raison et qui a tort apporte rarement une solution bénéfique aux deux parties.

Entre Gaza et Sderot il y a une frontière. Deux villes que deux kilomètres séparent, l'une est palestinienne, l'autre israélienne. On y découvre, des vies en parallèle, celles de juifs et de palestiniens.

Chaque jour la chaîne ARTE propose "La vie malgré tout" une vidéo sur Gaza et une autre sur Sdérot

With all the information being thrown at us, I thought i'd share some insight I've been getting from this blog http://gaza-sderot.blogspot.com/. For the whole year. also, there's a program chronicling the lives of the people on both sides that finished just before the latest escalation of violence: http://gaza-sderot.arte.tv/

When I started this production I was disconnected from the local reality, from the feelings of Sderot's people on the one side and especially from the people of Gaza. While working, I started understanding there's another side of the coin here. Over Face book, I made some friends, had fun and laughs with them, suddenly I was communicating. A sympathy to the other side developed: here are young people, like me. They have the same needs and dreams.

My research led me to 'Gaza Sderot - Life In Spite of Everything', a web-documentary by a French company. It follows the lives of men, women and children in two cities on the Israeli Palestinian border. Every day since October 26, 2008, two 2minuted videos are uploaded, one from each side. They are viewed side by side, giving a truly real look at the daily lives of these people. Despite the many dangers (air bombings and rocket attacks, power cuts and lack of food or medicine) the people never stop working, loving, and dreaming. It's been really amazing to get to know the people and follow their lives, and contrast them with how good we have it here in Canada. It's all very inspiring, and makes me want to do something.

A German television studio has produced a series of two minute videos from Gaza and Sderot, an Israeli city neighboring Gaza. The clips reveal what the news cameras do not: snapshots of daily life. It's an amazing behind the scenes look at the individuals behind the labels of "Israeli" or "Palestinian."

Wie sieht der Alltag in Gaza und in der isralischen Grenzstadt Sderot aus? Das Projekt «Gaza Sderot» von Arte berichtet vom täglichen Leben und Überleben der Menschen. Trotz schwerer Lebensbedingungen, der Gefahr von Luftangriffen und Raketenschüssen hören diese Menschen nicht auf zu arbeiten, zu lieben und zu träumen. Zu leben – trotz allem.

Une émission que j'apprécie énormément, elle passe sur la chaîne Franco-allemande ARTE , que je trouve la plus objective de toutes les chaînes Françaises. Gaza/Sderot : un parallélisme qui traduit une approche très objective de l'équipe qui mène ce projet.

what a challenging concept. and extra interesting, as Sderot is a city that also appears in the 2028 story. now it suddenly is there, just a click away.

I take from this that Gaza’s population doesn’t fear genocide, however insufferable the situation. I really resent Abunimah persisting with this.

The videos are organised by day and shown in pairs - Gaza on one side of your screen and Sderot from the same time on the other - so you get a sense of the two populations as contemporaries as well as neighbours.

Ma invece che soffermarvi su questi video, prendetevi un po' di tempo per vedere quelli realizzati a Gaza (Palestina) e di Sderot (Israele) da arte.tv. Trattano della vita di uomini, donne e bambini in due città sul confine israelo-palestinese. Nonostante molti pericoli, bombardamenti aerei e attacchi di razzi, le persone non smettono mai di lavorare, amare, e di sognare. Le telecamere entrano nelle case, nella vita quotidiana e raccontano...
